Whether you drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Wrangler, or another model, your Jeep dealerships know that you need to get a regular tune-up.
There are several different steps to a tune-up. Each step serves to help your vehicle keep running smoothly, help your Jeep’s engine last longer, and to increase your gas mileage.
- Here are some of the things involved in a tune-up:
- Checking of all fluids, and topping off any that are low
- Replacing the fuel filter
- Changing the spark plugs
- Switching out your air filter
- Adjusting valves
- Replacing valve-cover gaskets
- Changing out your spark plug wires
- Checking other systems
- Cleaning the throttle plate on the fuel injected vehicles
- Inspecting your vehicle.
The mechanic will look at the condition of your tires, check your air conditioning and heating, and look at your brakes and brake fluid. Several other parts will probably be looked at, including the timing of your vehicle, the PCV valve, the distributor cap and rotor, the oxygen sensor, and the carburetor.
Usually, you only need to get a tune-up about once a year or so. If you’re comfortable under the hood and under the chassis of your Jeep, you may not need to take your Jeep to the Jeep dealer for a tune-up, and may even be able to give your car a tune-up yourself.
