Chevy Dealership Celebrates Win

The place to find the 2009 Family Car of the Year is at your Union area Chevrolet dealer. The 2009 Chevy Traverse was given this award by the Southeast Automotive Media Organization.

The organization, also known as SEAMO, was founded in 2001. It includes the top auto industry journalists in the Southeast. On top of the Family Car of the Year Award, it also offers a yearly award for the North American Concept Vehicle.

The award, which is now in its seventh year, looked closely at 21 different family vehicles. The journalists who are members of SEAMO participated in a ride and drive event. Afterward, they turned in test-drive ballots to choose the winner.

The journalists used several criteria for their ratings, all of which have to do with family-friendliness. They considered Styling, Ergonomics, Amenities, Value, NVH, Accessibility, Capacity and Safety. Each vehicle had the potential to earn up to 100 points.

The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse earned a score of 89.5 points in the balloting. During an award lunch at the Charlotte Auto Show, Chevy’s Zone Manager for the region, Tim Groves, accepted the award. He is quoted as saying, “The first crossover in the Chevy family was designed with innovative safety features as well as the ultimate functionality needed to accommodate virtually every lifestyle — particularly families. So, we are pleased SEAMO recognized this and selected us for this prestigious award.”

Come and see us today to see why the 2009 Chevrolet Travers is indeed the Family Car of the Year.
