New Jersey Dealership Celebrates Old Jeeps

There’s nothing quite like getting a brand new Jeep from your New Jersey dealership. A new Jeep can be invigorating, and opens up all sorts of new possibilities, from off road activities to Jeep owners’ clubs.

New isn’t always better, however. For Gary Oswald of Beaverton, Oregon, it wasn’t a new Jeep that was so appealing; it was an old Jeep.A very old jeep.

According to The Oregonian, Gary Oswald was diagnosed with colon cancer just a few years ago. Oswald wanted to own a Jeep, but he didn’t want to wind up with a huge restoration project.

Oswald didn’t want just any Jeep, though; he wanted a real Jeep. What he found was an authentic World War II era Jeep. The olive drab jeep was originally assigned to an Army training center in Oregon, and the vehicle is now almost 70 years old.

The Jeep was complete when Oswald bought it. He has added a few original items to the Jeep since that time, to add to its authenticity.

Oswald, who calls himself a “Jeep Snob,” points out that a true enthusiast of the Jeep can tell you which Jeep was put out when. He’ll see a Jeep in a movie, for example, and be able to determine if that Jeep is the correct one for the era.
