New Jersey Dealership Warns against Car-Buying Scams

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

When you’re buying a new car, there are several scams out there that your New Jersey dealership wants to warn you about. We want you to get the most for your money without getting ripped off. As such, here are a couple recent scams your New Jersey dealership has heard about.

The Trade-In
After reading several message boards regarding buyers using a trade-in on which they still owed money, we found many people getting ripped off. That’s because some dealerships are promising to pay off the trade-in, but then they go out of business before that happens. As a result, the buyer is left with two loans to pay off – the one for their trade-in and the loan they just took out for their new car.

The Locator
When you have a dealer locate a car you want from another dealer, you often end up with a car that you didn’t want in addition to a number of fees to pay. If you find a car that you want by searching online, go to the dealer that has that car in its inventory. You’ll save money and ensure that you are buying the exact car that you found while doing your research.

You can bet your Elizabeth area Chevrolet dealer will give you a great deal and we won’t rip you off. Visit us today for a deal you can trust!

Keep the Receipt from Your Hyundai Dealership

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Did you know that when you purchase or lease a new car from your local Hyundai dealership, you may be able to return it if you have trouble making the payments?

In an effort to make consumers more comfortable with their purchase and make a contribution to helping the economic crisis, your Hyundai dealer will have an “out” for you in some cases. Named the “Hyundai Assurance Program,” new car buyers and leases who are “stricken by misfortune outside of their control, such as losing their job, becoming disabled or losing their drivers license for medical reasons” during the first 12 months of financing can return their Hyundai to the Hyundai dealership. As long as the buyer has made at least the first two payments, the Hyundai dealership will refund “the depreciation on the returned car up to $7,500.”

The “Hyundai Assurance Program” was launched last week and is “aimed at consumers too nervous to spring for a new car in the difficult economy.” Doesn’t this make you feel more comfortable about visiting your East Brunswick area Hyundai dealer and plunking some money down for a great new car? You won’t find a program like this with any other automaker today.

New Jersey Dealership Warns about Other States’ Laws

Monday, January 5th, 2009

If you happen to find yourself driving through Michigan anytime soon, your New Jersey dealership wants to give you a tip: Don’t hang anything from your rearview mirror!

This story is about a man named Lonnie Ray Davis. He was pulled over by the Michigan State Police because he had a Tweety Bird ornament hanging from his rearview mirror. According to the state law, it is illegal to have anything “obstruct the vision of the driver of the vehicle.” As a result of getting pulled over for the Tweety Bird, the police found a wad of cash, an open container of alcohol, a stun gun, a handgun and some drugs. Subsequently, the police arrested him.

But, Davis argues, it was an unfair arrest. According to him, the Tweety Bird was not obstructing his vision. Since his vision wasn’t obstructed, he should not have been pulled over. As a result, the stuff the cops found in his car should be suppressed. His argument didn’t work and the arrest stuck.

Keep this in mind if you decide to drive through Michigan with a new or certified used car you purchased from your Bound Brook area Chevrolet dealer.
